Moiré Interactive Exhibit: A Scientific Magic Show That Makes Static Patterns Dance
Hidden within the fabric of banknote anti-counterfeiting, mobile phone screens, and even architectural curtain walls lies an intriguing scientific phenomenon: moiré patterns. This interactive exhibit, created by Zigong Zhongqing, allows visitors to create this magical "dynamic illusion" and explore the mysteries of grating superposition.
Core Interactive Experience
Magician's Station: Features six grating combinations with varying pitches.
Rotate/translate the joystick to observe how static patterns create dynamic effects such as ripples and rotations. A peak velocity detector measures the speed of the audience's "dynamic patterns."
Principle Decoding Station:
A polarized light microscope demonstrates the microscopic changes in fringe superposition. A touchscreen simulates the interference effects of gratings at different angles and frequencies.
Practical Science Design
• Real-World Comparison Area: Demonstrates practical applications in banknote security threads and screen pixel arrangement
• Future Technology Wall: Showcases innovative applications of the moiré effect in robotic vision and medical imaging
• Creative Workshop: Visitors can create their own lenticular sheets and personalized moiré patterns
ZhongQing Custom Solutions
We offer customized configurations for different scenarios:
Science Museum Edition: Features fully automated demonstration mode and expert explanation system
Education Edition: Integrates STEM curriculum packages and supports group experiments
Commercial Edition: Customizable dynamic lenticular wall with corporate VI elements
Technical Highlights
Uses aviation-grade acrylic lenticular sheets with 0.01mm accuracy; a magnetic quick-change system allows for endless combinations; and an intelligent sensor automatically adjusts backlight intensity.
